One of the biggest misinterpretations of the Catholic religion is that Catholics are mistakenly accused of worshipping saints. Yesterday, November 1st was All Saints Day. It is a holy day of obligation which means one must attend mass. All Saints Day just honors all the known and unknown saints. Many Saints have specific dates to be honored but there are some that have been forgotten or never really specifically honored. Saints have immaculate souls whom we ask for their prayers and intercession. Catholics are Not idol/ saint worshippers.
Sancticity means holiness. Saints recognize they are sinners but live their lives through the image of God. They do not just speak of what a true messanger of God should do. They actually show it through their actions. Saints' lives are devoted to helping others and giving more than receiving. I have read many books describing the lives of certain saints. Each one has and incredible background. Saints are interesting and a true inspiration to be a better person. My favorite is Saint Raphael. He is the patron of many things but the one thing that stands out to me is he is the saint of young people.
