Saint Elizabeth
Today, November 17th, Catholics celebrate the feast of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary. Saint Elizabeth's father was King Andrew of Hungary. At only at the age of four, Saint Elizabeth was brought to Germany to become a future bride. In the meantime, this agreement reinforced political alliances between the two families and countries. Saint Elizabeth was married by the age of fourteen. Shortly after, she was widowed by the age of twenty. She shared her wealth with the helpless and the poor. She became the symbol of charity in Germany by building many hospitals out of the goodness of her heart. Saint Elizabeth passed away at only twenty-four years of age. Even after the death of Saint Elizabeth, miracles were still reported occurring at her grave or in the hospitals she built. Most of the miracles were mainly of healing. Saint Elizabeth had a positive impact on people and surely deserved becoming a saint.
